ABOUT LIZ

A native of France, born of Italian parents, Liz grew up in Los Angeles. She is inspired by urban themes and loves to portray the beauty she captures in the raw and industrial aspects of city life.

Her individual mixed media technique begins with the manipulation of her original photography collaged onto an acrylic painted canvas, finally blended within layers of colorful acrylic washes.

She began this series of works with landscape paintings of the streets and alleys of Downtown L.A., a city that is changing and developing rapidly. Her artwork captured some of the disappearing traces of History and the authenticity of a neighborhood now in full bloom.

Her current work is less lifelike as she utilizes various architectural details found in her photos to create more complex graphics, structures and imaginary landscapes, while using shapes reminiscent of street art found in the very same cities she photographs.

Liz graduated in 2002 from Otis Art Institute with a BFA in Communication Arts and now works as a graphic artist from her studio in Downtown Los Angeles. Over the past couple of years, Liz has established herself as a local emerging talent and is now represented by galleries such as Thinkspace in Culver City, C.A.V.E Gallery in Venice, and Wide Painting in Paris. She also works with “The Werks Project Agency” on more commercial endeavors.

D’origine française, née de parents italiens, Liz a grandi à Los Angeles. Inspirée par des thèmes urbains, elle capture la beauté qu’elle retrouve dans les aspects les plus crus et sombres de la vie en ville.

Sa technique originale, commence par un traitement photographique qu’elle incorpore par collage, sur une toile peinte à l’acrylique, puis par l’application d’ une troisième couche de couleur, elle harmonise les différentes étapes et médiums qui vont constituer l’image finale .

Son œuvre débute avec des portraits de “Downtown Los Angeles”, un quartier longtemps abandonné, mais qui,maintenant, reprend vie petit à petit. Les peintures de Liz en immortalisent les dernières traces authentiques et historiques qui disparaissent peu a peu, dans un quartier clef de la ville, aujourd’hui en pleine évolution.

Actuellement, elle utilise les details architecturaux trouvés dans ses photos pour creer des graphismes plus complexes, des structures et des paysages imaginaires, aux formes evocatrices du graffiti et du “street art”, omnipresents dans les villes memes qu’elle photographie a l’origine.

Diplomée en 2002 de “Otis Institute of Art and Design” de Los Angeles, Liz expose beaucoup en Californie et travaille en tant que graphiste depuis son atelier à Los Angeles. Elle est représentée par diverses galeries comme Thinkspace, The C.A.V.E et The Whole Nine aux USA, et a Paris par Wide Painting, et travaille avec l’agence The Werks Projects Agency dans un but plus commercial.
